ACTIVE COMPASSION: Working For A Sane And Just Society

WHAT: a 3-day youth conference on meditation & social action
WHEN: April 2-4
WHERE: The Progressive Life Center in Baltimore, 2700 block of Maryland Ave.

MAIN TEACHER:

Jann Jackson will join us to give teachings and lead the conference. Since first meeting Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche at the 1975 Naropa Summer Program, Jann has been a buddhist and meditator for nearly thirty years. She is one of our senior teachers here in Baltimore and respected throughout the Shambhala mandala. She also has many years of experience in advocacy work, first as the Associate Director of The House of Ruth for 14 years and currently as the Executive Director of Advocates for Children and Youth where she has been for 9 years. It would be difficult to find someone more qualified anywhere to lead this conference.

MORE ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:

We will seek a balance between the view/experience of meditation practice and the practical nuts & bolts matters of social justice work. The primary vehicle for this will be a panel discussion and focus groups led by a number of experienced meditators who also have a background in the field of social justice.

The ACTIVE COMPASSION conference will be ideal for college students and early college graduates, but registration will be open to anyone between the ages of 18-30. If you are a young person or know someone who might be interested in the conference, a son/daughter, niece/nephew, friend, cousin, etc. please contact us for more information.

For more information about the ACTIVE COMPASSION youth conference, or if you have questions of any sort please email Jonathan Hanna at or call him at 410-662-6309. Thank you.
